Guided historical walk Mile End and Bow

My guided walk Vanished Without Trace: Mile End runs again next Sunday (11th Sept) at 11am. It starts from just behind William Hill’s shop, a bit to the left as you come out of Mile End underground, and costs just £5 per person. There’s no need to book, just turn up.

There were some very talented people working around here; philanthropists, silversmiths and trade union leaders. The walk also features stories of gangsters, horticulturalists, a mad inventor and a crazed tyrannical monarch. There’s a lot of hidden history around Mile End.

Not much of the past survives on the streets here, but there are some clues. I’ll be bringing some of my research papers out with me – copies of court documents, photos and old maps to show you Mile End’s hidden past. Join me if you can.
