The Dark Side of East London

Last night David Charnick launched his latest book by reading from it at Oxford House, Bethnal Green. The Dark Side of East London includes stories of crimes committed centuries ago in what was later to become known as the East End. These fascinating and unusual stories were vividly brought to life in David’s excellent reading.

David is a qualified guide and runs local walks around the East End of London. Decades of research has gone into this book, and David has unearthed stories shedding light on how life was lived in the area between Bethnal Green and the City.

I was privileged to be asked to take the photos to illustrate the book, enabling readers to visit and find the places where theses stories happened.

You can buy this well-written and researched book from Pen and Sword books. David’s upcoming walking tours are here.
