The Victoria and Albert Museum have opened a pop-up museum in a small shop beside the clock tower in Chrisp Street Market,E14 6AQ, All Saints DLR. It’s open Fridays and Saturdays 10-4pm and will show three different exhibitions over the next year.
The Lansbury Estate was created as a showcase for the 1951 Festival of Britain.
I went yesterday and had a great chat with Nim (pictured) who’s been volunteering at the V&A in Kensington. He knows his history. They’ve got some old videos playing of the estate being built, and you can go up the clock tower to see the view. They have a yellow leaflet containing a map with a little walking trail which shows you around the neighbourhood.
